Mr. Leong Choong Peng
It is with the heaviest of hearts and profound sorrow that the Association of Quantity Surveyors Thailand (AQST) announces the passing of our Founder, Mr. Leong Choong Peng — an extraordinary leader, revered mentor, and a true pillar of the Quantity Surveying profession.
Mr. Leong was far more than the Founder of AQST; he was its guiding light, its architect of vision, and the enduring foundation upon which our Association proudly stands. Through his remarkable foresight, steadfast dedication, and uncompromising commitment to professional excellence, he transformed an aspiration into an institution of distinction. Under his leadership, AQST grew into a respected and influential professional body, elevating the stature and recognition of Quantity Surveyors throughout Thailand and across the international arena.
His distinguished career extended well beyond national boundaries. Mr. Leong served with exceptional honor on the global stage, holding esteemed leadership roles within both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS). The trust placed in him by these prestigious institutions reflected the profound respect he commanded worldwide. His contributions strengthened professional standards, fostered international collaboration, and advanced the global standing of the Quantity Surveying profession.
Yet, his greatest legacy lies not only in titles held or milestones achieved, but in the values he instilled. He nurtured a culture defined by integrity, professionalism, discipline, and lifelong learning. He inspired generations of practitioners to uphold the highest ethical standards and to pursue excellence with humility and purpose. The principles he championed continue to shape our Association and will endure as guiding beacons for years to come.
Through his wisdom and leadership, AQST became more than an organization — it became a community united by shared purpose, mutual respect, and a commitment to advancing the profession with dignity. His vision created opportunities, his guidance built confidence, and his presence inspired unity.
On behalf of the Council and all Members of the Association of Quantity Surveyors Thailand, we extend our deepest gratitude for his immeasurable contributions and his lifelong devotion to the profession. While we grieve the loss of a remarkable leader, we also celebrate a life of extraordinary impact and reaffirm our solemn commitment to uphold the vision and principles he so passionately established.
Mr. Leong Choong Peng’s name, legacy, and spirit will forever remain woven into the fabric of AQST and the history of Quantity Surveying.

In a landmark moment for the quantity surveying profession in the Asia-Pacific region, the Association of Quantity Surveyors Thailand (AQST) and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 24 August 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the sidelines of the PAQS Congress 2025. This historic signing marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties and fostering greater professional collaboration between Thailand and Australia.
The MOU establishes a formal framework for cooperation between the two associations, encompassing key areas such as the mutual recognition of professional qualifications, continuing professional development (CPD), knowledge sharing, and the exchange of best practices in quantity surveying. It also paves the way for greater mobility and recognition of quantity surveying professionals between the two countries, opening new opportunities for members of both associations.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both AQST and AIQS, reflecting the high level of commitment and goodwill shared by both organisations. This agreement represents not only a deepening of the professional relationship between Thailand and Australia, but also a broader affirmation of the shared values of excellence, integrity, and collaboration that underpin the global quantity surveying community.
For AQST, the MOU with AIQS is a testament to the Association’s growing international presence and its unwavering dedication to advancing the standards of the quantity surveying profession in Thailand. AQST at the PAQS Congress 2025 – Jakarta, Indonesia
The Association of Quantity Surveyors Thailand (AQST) proudly participated in the Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) Congress 2025, held on 22–26 August 2025 at the Raffles Hotel Jakarta, Indonesia. Hosted by the Ikatan Quantity Surveyor Indonesia (IQSI), this prestigious biennial congress brought together quantity surveying professionals, industry leaders, and associations from across the Asia-Pacific region.
The congress served as a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and regional networking, featuring keynote presentations, technical sessions, and workshops centred on the future of the quantity surveying profession in the context of digital transformation, sustainability, and smart urban development.
As an active member of the regional professional community, AQST was represented at several key events during the congress, including the 29th PAQS Annual Board Meeting, the ASEAN Quantity Surveyors Association (AQSA) General Meeting, and a landmark MOU Signing Ceremony with the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) — marking a significant step forward in bilateral cooperation and professional recognition between Thailand and Australia.

The Association of Quantity Surveyors Thailand (AQST) proudly participated in the ASEAN Quantity Surveyors Association (AQSA) Meeting, held on 23 August 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the sidelines of the PAQS Congress 2025. The meeting brought together representatives from quantity surveying associations across ASEAN member countries to discuss and exchange views on the advancement of the profession at the regional level.
The AQSA meeting covered several important agenda items, including progress reports from member associations, discussions on strategic plans and the future direction of the quantity surveying profession within ASEAN, and deliberations on collaborative frameworks to elevate professional standards in line with international benchmarks.
As a proud member of AQSA, AQST actively participated in the meeting, presenting the latest developments and progress of the quantity surveying profession in Thailand, while reaffirming its strong commitment to advancing cooperation among ASEAN member associations toward a stronger and more sustainable regional professional community.

In a significant development for the construction and surveying industries across Southeast Asia, the Association of Quantity Surveyors Thailand (AQST) has officially become a member of the ASEAN Quantity Surveyors Association (AQSA). This historic event was done during the Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS) Congress in Brunei done last August 23 to 27 2024. The event was well represented by 15 countries from Asia and the Pacific region which marks a new era of collaboration and synergy among quantity surveyors in the region.
The ASEAN Quantity Surveyors Association was established to promote professional excellence and foster regional integration, is comprised of quantity surveying associations from across Southeast Asia. By joining AQSA, AQST aims to elevate its role within the regional framework, aligning its practices with international standards and contributing to the collective growth of the profession.
For Thai quantity surveyors, this membership offers numerous benefits. Firstly, it provides access to a broader network of professionals, allowing for the exchange of best practices and innovative approaches in quantity surveying. In a landmark event for both quantity surveying bodies, the Association of Quantity Surveyors (AQST) and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) hosted their first-ever joint face-to-face Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event. The Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) is the national body representing quantity surveyors and cost management professionals in Australia that promotes high standards of practice and provides a range of professional development opportunities for its members.
This groundbreaking event, held at the Intercontinental Hotel Bangkok, drew professionals from across the industry and marked a significant milestone in fostering collaboration and professional growth within the field.
The CPD event named Elevating Urban Landscapes, which took place on the 23 May 2024, featured an extensive topic designed to address the latest developments, challenges, and innovations in both the quantity surveying profession and construction industry. Comprising of more than 100 participants, all attendees were treated to a series of high-caliber presentations, and panel discussions led by industry experts and thought leaders.
